Controversy Surrounding Badshah's 'Tateeree'

The uproar regarding Badshah's recent Haryanvi track, Tateeree, is intensifying. Initially, the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) summoned the rapper to address concerns over the song's provocative lyrics and visuals. Following this, on March 6, the Haryana Police lodged a formal complaint against him. Reports indicate that they are in the process of issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) to prevent Badshah from leaving the country. Additionally, he has received directives to take down the Tateeree music video from all social media platforms. The controversy was sparked by a complaint from a resident of Panchkula, who raised objections to the song's explicit content.

FIR Filed Against Badshah by Haryana Police

Released on March 1, 2026, Tateeree quickly gained traction on YouTube, but it also faced backlash for its inappropriate content among local communities in Haryana. On March 6, an FIR was registered at the cybercrime police station in Panchkula, citing violations of Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, as well as Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to obscene acts. A police officer from Panchkula confirmed to Moneycontrol that an investigation is currently underway following the complaint.

The initial complaint from the Panchkula citizen urged authorities to take action against the "offensive lyrics and visuals" in Badshah's Tateeree. The HSCW has also taken note of the situation, requesting that the rapper, whose real name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, appear before their panel to explain his position. Badshah is expected to attend the HSCW meeting on March 12.

Details of the Complaint Against 'Tateeree'

The complainant argues that the language and imagery in Tateeree are highly disrespectful and convey a misleading message to society. They are calling for Badshah to be held accountable for the misinformation presented in the song.

According to the FIR, the complainant claims that the music video distorts the meaning of "pathshala." It features girls in school uniforms in a classroom setting, and the alleged vulgar lyrics are deemed offensive. The portrayal of a school environment is also criticized for potentially influencing youth negatively and inciting violence against young women. Haryana's Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda has indicated that the government is investigating the music video.
