Badshah Faces Backlash Over Controversial Haryanvi Song 'Tateeree'
Controversy Surrounding Badshah's Latest Release
Rapper Badshah is currently embroiled in controversy following a summons issued by the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) regarding his recent Haryanvi track, 'Tateeree.' The commission responded to complaints alleging that the song features inappropriate lyrics and visuals that could be deemed disrespectful to women and minors. Released on March 1, 2026, the song has sparked significant debate on social media and among local groups in Haryana. In light of these complaints, the commission has opted to formally investigate the matter. Badshah, whose birth name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, has been summoned to present his perspective on the issue.
Badshah's Legal Troubles
The controversy ignited when two individuals from Panipat lodged complaints regarding the song's lyrics and video. Social activist Savita Arya, who leads the Nari Tu Narayani Utthan Samiti, along with Shiv Kumar from the Shiv Aarti India Foundation, claimed that the song contains disrespectful language towards women and contradicts cultural values. They have called for action against the artist.
In response to these grievances, the Haryana State Commission for Women took notice and issued a formal notice to Badshah. He is required to attend a hearing set for March 13, 2026, at 11:30 am, which will be held at the District Commissioner’s office in Panipat, presided over by commission chairperson Renu Bhatia. The commission has instructed the Superintendent of Police in Panipat to ensure the presence of all relevant parties during the hearing. Officials will evaluate the complaints alongside Badshah’s defense before determining if further action is warranted.
Renu Bhatia has raised concerns regarding how the song was approved for release, questioning the regulatory checks that allowed it to be published. The commission intends to thoroughly review the situation once both parties have presented their arguments during the hearing.
Details About 'Tateeree'
'Tateeree' is a folk-style Haryanvi song by Badshah, released in early March 2026. Certain lyrics have drawn significant criticism, with complainants highlighting lines that they believe convey a negative message about women. One particular line mentioned in the complaints is 'Aaya Badshah doli chadhane, in sabki ghodi banane,' which critics argue is inappropriate. Additionally, the music video has faced scrutiny; it depicts girls in school uniforms dancing on a Haryana Roadways bus and tossing their school bags, which critics claim could set a poor example for young viewers and undermine the dignity of minors.
