In a conversation with a media outlet, Supriyo elaborated on how the emergence of new voices in the industry, particularly Himesh Reshammiya, shifted the landscape of playback singing. He noted that after the success of Hum Tum, he was flooded with romantic song offers, but this quickly changed. Supriyo remarked, “Himesh ji came along and initiated a new trend,” attributing his career's downturn to this shift. He acknowledged Himesh's talent but lamented how this change overshadowed his work, leading to a rapid decline in his career. Reflecting on his past, he stated, "If I claim that I wasn't affected by these changes, I would be lying.” The transition from being celebrated after Hum Tum to experiencing a downturn was one of the most challenging periods of his life.
