After a five-year hiatus, producer Vinod Bachchan is set to release the sequel to 'Ginny Weds Sunny'. This time, the film will feature a new lead pair, Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr, replacing Vikrant Massey and Yami Gautam.
The production team announced the commencement of filming through a social media post from the lead actors. The message read, "Prepare for a thrilling mix of romance, comedy, and drama as we kick off the first schedule of Ginny Weds Sunny 2! 🤩🤩 We are thrilled to embark on this journey with such a fantastic team!"
In discussing the sequel, Bachchan expressed, "We are thrilled to introduce a new chapter in the Ginny Weds Sunny saga. The affection the original film garnered inspired us to delve into fresh stories and characters. With Avinash and Medha, we have discovered a vibrant and exciting duo. We believe this sequel will bring even more joy, laughter, and connection to audiences."
The sequel is helmed by Prasshant Jha, who is both the writer and director, and is produced by Vinod Bachchan under the Soundrya Production label.
Medha Shankr gained recognition for her role in '12th Fail', where she starred alongside Vikrant Massey. Meanwhile, Avinash Tiwary has impressed audiences with his performances in 'Laila Majnu', 'The Mehta Boys', 'Madgaon Express', and 'Bambai Meri Jaan'.
'Ginny Weds Sunny', released in 2020, is a romantic comedy featuring Yami Gautam as Ginny and Vikrant Massey as Sunny. The film was directed by Puneet Khanna and produced by Vinod Bachchan.
