A Final Farewell to Asha Bhosle


On April 12, the world bid farewell to Asha Bhosle, the iconic playback singer celebrated for her extraordinary versatility and charm, who passed away at the age of 92. Her family held an antim darshan event at Casa Grande in Lower Parel, allowing fans, friends, and colleagues to pay their last respects to the beloved artist, affectionately referred to as Asha Tai.


The event saw a significant turnout from the Bollywood community and public figures, including luminaries like Asha Parekh, AR Rahman, and Sachin Tendulkar. A poignant moment occurred when Anjali Tendulkar was seen comforting Bhosle's granddaughter, Zanai, who was understandably heartbroken over her grandmother's passing. This display of grief underscored the deep impact Bhosle had on her loved ones and the many fans who adored her music.


Asha Bhosle's death was due to multi-organ failure, which occurred at Breach Candy Hospital. Her body was brought home on the evening of April 11, where arrangements were made for public viewing and state honors. During the final darshan, her body was placed in a glass casket adorned with white lilies and wrapped in the national tricolor, receiving a ceremonial salute from police personnel.


The public viewing at Casa Grande lasted until 3 PM, after which the funeral procession was set to leave for the Shivaji Park crematorium in Dadar. The last rites were planned for 4 PM, with family and invited guests accompanying the cortege to say their final goodbyes to the legendary singer.
