The legendary Asha Bhosle has departed from this world, yet her unforgettable melodies will forever resonate in the hearts of her admirers. Renowned for her iconic songs such as Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Dil Cheez Kya Hai, Yeh Mera Dil, and In Aankhon Ki Masti, she passed away on Sunday, April 12, due to multiple organ failure. Asha was receiving treatment for a chest infection and severe fatigue at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. On the following day, she was honored with a state funeral.
Her final journey was attended by numerous Bollywood celebrities, politicians, cricketers, and many others. As the entertainment industry mourns her loss, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt reflected on the impact she had on music.

In an exclusive interview, Bhatt expressed, "Isn’t it the generosity of life with which a person of her talent was gifted to us?" He continued, "We should be grateful that she was part of our lives, her voice continues to resonate. Memory is sound, and her sound will echo forever. She was an extraordinary talent, and at 92, what an incredible innings she played." Bhatt emphasized that the music industry owes its existence to legends like her, stating, "On her shoulders, we stand. The industry is built on the foundations laid by these pioneers who pursued their dreams."
Producer Vinay Bhardwaj Remembers Asha Tai
Producer Vinay Bhardwaj described her music as "the soundtrack of our lives," noting that she embodied the songs she sang, making them timeless. He reminisced about a remix of her famous song Chura Liya by Bally Sagoo, stating it could never match Asha ji’s original legacy. "True originality is unmatched, and no one like her has ever existed," he remarked. Known as the Queen of Versatility, Asha Bhosle recorded over 12,000 songs in more than 20 languages and holds a Guinness World Record for being the most recorded artist. Her passing has created an irreplaceable gap in the film and music industry.
