Asha Bhosle's Final Farewell


Renowned vocalist Asha Bhosle was cremated at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on April 13, following her passing on April 12 at Breach Candy Hospital, where she was being treated for exhaustion and a chest infection. She leaves behind her son Anand, granddaughter Zanai, and grandson Chaitanya. After the cremation, her brother, esteemed music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar, announced plans to establish Asia's largest hospital in memory of Asha and the late Lata Mangeshkar. He shared that this initiative was originally intended as a tribute to their elder sister, Lata, but Asha's untimely death occurred before the hospital's inauguration.

In a statement, Hridaynath expressed the family's desire to honor both Lata and Asha through this hospital, which is set to open on April 16. He noted that Asha would not witness this vision come to fruition. The facility is likely to be named either 'Lata-Asha Institute of Medical Sciences' or 'Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Ayurvidhya Sansthan'.

Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92. On the day prior to her funeral, her body was taken to her home in Lower Parel, Mumbai, allowing family members to pay their respects. The funeral service was attended by numerous notable figures from the entertainment industry, including Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Tabu, and many others who gathered at Shivaji Park to offer their condolences. Additionally, A R Rahman, Ranveer Singh, and Riteish Deshmukh visited the family at Casa Grande before the funeral.



A Heartfelt Tribute


During the cremation, singers Shaan and Sudesh Bhosale performed Asha Bhosle's beloved song Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar. Although Shreya Ghoshal was unable to attend due to her international tour, she honored Asha by performing some of her classic hits, including Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar and Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani during her concert in London. Asha was given a guard of honor at her residence, and her remains were draped in the national flag, reflecting the respect she garnered throughout her illustrious career.
