AR Murugadoss's Challenging Year in Cinema

AR Murugadoss encountered a tough year in 2025, particularly following the disappointing performance of Sikandar, featuring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna. Fans had high hopes for his next project, Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, but it unfortunately received poor reviews and did not succeed at the box office. Recent reports indicate that Sri Lakshmi Movies has lodged a complaint against Murugadoss with the Tamil producers and directors association, and the issue remains unresolved. This complaint was disclosed during a recent interview on a Tamil channel.

Producers Seek Compensation from Murugadoss

Why did Madharaasi producers demand compensation from AR Murugadoss?

During a discussion on the Touring Talkies channel, Tamil film personality Chithra revealed that the film's budget was initially set at Rs 115 crore, but it escalated to Rs 170 crore during production. The film's lackluster box office performance left the production house dissatisfied with the financial losses. Consequently, the producers requested Murugadoss to reimburse at least Rs 10 crore due to the budget overruns.
