Kher frequently reflects on his modest upbringing in Shimla, where he was born into a middle-class joint family in Himachal Pradesh and faced financial hardships during his early years. These experiences have significantly influenced his down-to-earth perspective. Despite his celebrity status, he remains closely tied to his origins. In a recent social media post, he reminisced about his past, noting that owning a decent shirt once seemed like a luxury.

Anupam Kher Remembers His Financial Struggles

The 71-year-old actor shared several images showcasing his collection of suits. In his post, Kher humorously stated, "Application for formal brand endorsement! I come from a very simple financial background… Where owning one good shirt felt like a luxury. I never imagined that one day I would not only wear formal clothes but also carry them with style! Looking at these pictures, I must say—the small-town boy from Shimla has cleaned up quite well!" He expressed that even at his age, he feels confident, elegant, and comfortable in his own skin, which he considers the best outfit one can wear. He also mentioned that brands seeking a seasoned, confident model with a touch of swag should consider him available.

Fans flooded the comments section with admiration for the stylish actor. One comment read: "Anupam Kher arrived in Mumbai with just Rs 37, slept on railway platforms, played a 65-year-old man at age 28 just to get a foot in the door, and now at 71, he's posting photos in formal wear telling brands he's 'available' and comes with 'experience, confidence, and a little bit of swag.' That's not a brand pitch. That's a rebellion." Another fan remarked, "Still outshining menswear models half your age. Swag doesn’t retire."
