Annu Kapoor Addresses Backlash Over 'Milky Body' Comment About Tamannaah Bhatia
Annu Kapoor Responds to Controversy
Annu Kapoor faced significant criticism for his comment regarding Tamannaah Bhatia's 'milky body' while complimenting her performance in the song 'Aaj Ki Raat' from Stree 2. In a recent interview, the seasoned actor addressed the backlash, stating that his remark was made 'without any ill intent' and expressed his willingness to apologize by touching Tamannaah's feet if she was offended.
Clarification on the 'Milky Body' Comment
Kapoor explained that the comment originated during a tour in the US, where his team suggested the song as a challenging piece for contestants on his show. Intrigued, he watched the performance and was impressed by Tamannaah's dancing. He emphasized that his observation was meant as a compliment, not a critique. Annu Kapoor suggested that the uproar stemmed more from language than from his actual intent, noting that if he had used the same phrase in English, the reaction would have been less severe. He remarked, 'If I had said ‘milky body’ in English, there wouldn’t have been an issue. But saying it in Hindi became a problem.'
The actor made it clear that appreciating someone's appearance does not imply any inappropriate intentions, likening it to admiring beauty without the desire to possess it. Regarding accountability, he expressed no reluctance in apologizing, stating that he would confirm his comment if Tamannaah asked him directly. He humorously added, 'If a 71-year-old man touches her feet, what will she say?' during his conversation with Siddharth Kannan.
Origin of the Controversy
The issue arose when Annu Kapoor appeared on a podcast hosted by YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, where the discussion shifted to contemporary music. When asked about his admiration for Tamannaah Bhatia, he responded with 'Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai.' The host then referenced Tamannaah's remark about the song's popularity for helping children sleep, to which Kapoor playfully questioned the age of the 'children' she mentioned.
