The Emotional Connection of Saiyaara

Why was Saiyaara an emotional film for Aneet Padda?

In Saiyaara, Aneet portrays Vaani Batra, a writer diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at a young age. Drawing parallels between her character and her grandfather’s experience, Padda shared with The Hollywood Reporter India that he struggled with memory loss. She resonated with the film’s message: 'dimaag bhool jaata hai par dil kabhi nahi bhoolta (the mind forgets but the heart does not)', which she felt was true for her dadu. Although he often forgot her name, he would affectionately call her Heeraput or Makkhan. Aneet recalled a touching moment when, despite her fears that he wouldn’t recognize her in clips from Saiyaara, he surprised everyone by exclaiming, 'Makkhan di movie', making that moment unforgettable for her.
