A Unique Celebration for a Bollywood Legend

In the heart of rural Maharashtra, a school named after the renowned poet Dr. Harivanshrai Bachchan turned the 84th birthday of his son, the iconic Amitabh Bachchan, into a vibrant celebration of poetry, music, and education through an initiative called "Madhushala to Gyanshala."

The Dr. Harivanshrai Bachchan Vidyalaya in Ahmedpur, Latur, opted for a unique celebration that emphasized literature and creativity rather than traditional birthday festivities like cakes and candles.

Students passionately recited the timeless works of the esteemed Hindi poet, transforming the event into a significant cultural occasion.

Children recorded their own musical interpretations of Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poetry and performed dances, creating a lively atmosphere, as shared by the school's founder, Nivrutti Yadav.

This initiative not only celebrated the birthday but also marked the school's 20th anniversary, aiming to foster a love for Hindi literature, creativity, and digital learning among rural students.

As part of this effort, students developed an audio QR-code knowledge bank, a cost-free innovation that converts poetry and educational material into engaging audio formats in Hindi, Marathi, and English.

The project promotes a "screen to voice" strategy, aiming to lessen children's reliance on mobile gaming while enhancing their listening skills and appreciation for literature.

By recording and presenting literary pieces in their own voices, students are encouraged to cultivate an interest in poetry and multilingual education.

Additionally, students formed a human chain shaped like the number 84 to symbolize the megastar's age.

Through the integration of music, poetry, and technology, the school highlighted its two-decade commitment to value-based education in rural Maharashtra, making literature more accessible to children while honoring one of Indian cinema's most beloved figures.
