A New Chapter in Indian Cinema

Mumbai: Iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan has recently posted behind-the-scenes images alongside Tamil film legend Kamal Haasan from the filming of Kalki 2. This collaboration marks their first joint venture since the 1985 film Geraftaar.

In a heartfelt entry on his Tumblr blog, the 83-year-old star announced that he has commenced shooting for this sequel, which follows the success of the 2024 Telugu hit Kalki 2898 AD.

Bachchan expressed his excitement, stating, "Reuniting with the legendary KAMAL HAASAN after so many years... our last project was 'Giraftar'."

The shared photos depict the two legends embracing warmly, with Bachchan portraying Ashwatthama, a character he played in the original film.

He further mentioned, "Kalki 2 has officially begun, and I will always treasure the love and support from everyone. I hope to be present this coming Sunday."

The Kalki 2898 AD film, inspired by Hindu texts, was the inaugural entry in the envisioned Kalki Cinematic Universe, released in 2024.

Set in a dystopian future, the narrative follows a group on a mission to protect a woman carrying the final avatar of Lord Vishnu, Kalki, from a malevolent god-king named Yaskin.

The film starred Prabhas as Bhairava/Karna, Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Haasan as the villainous Yaskin, and Deepika Padukone as Sumathi, also known as SUM-80.

Upon its release in June 2024, the film grossed over Rs 1000 crore worldwide.

Bachchan also shared snapshots of fans gathered outside his residence, Jalsa, eager to catch a glimpse of him.

He noted, "I informed them that I wouldn't be able to meet them this Sunday due to shooting in Hyderabad, yet they still came to see me... I apologize, but work takes precedence over everything else."
