Alia Bhatt's Memorable BAFTA Appearance

Mumbai, Feb 23: Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made a striking entrance at the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), infusing her presentation with a touch of Indian culture as she introduced the award for Best Film Not in the English Language.

The event took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London, where Alia began her address with a warm “Namaskar” to the audience.

She continued, saying, “The next award is for a film that is not in English.”

Alia humorously urged the audience, “Please don’t rush for the subtitles just yet. I was merely stating in Hindi that the upcoming award is for a film not in the English language. While cinema speaks in many dialects, we all celebrate the universal language of film, which we all understand fluently. And the remarkable nominees are.”

She then listed the nominated films, which included It Was Just an Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sirat, and The Voice of Hind Rajab.

Before presenting the award, Alia shared her joy about her daughter Raha on the red carpet, saying, “My daughter is my true source of inspiration and magic right now. Watching her grow is a delight. She’s three now and dances to my songs, and I often think, 'This is what life is all about.'”

Alia was joined by other presenters at the event, including Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy, Ethan Hawke, Kate Hudson, Michael B Jordan, Sadie Sink, Alicia Vikander, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Patrick Dempsey, and Riz Ahmed, as noted in an official announcement.

The Manipuri-language film “Boong,” supported by Farhan Akhtar, received the esteemed Best Children's & Family Film award at the BAFTAs.

On the acting front, Alia is set to appear in “Alpha” alongside stars like Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. She is also currently filming “Love And War” with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
