Alpha's Advance Booking Performance

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari star in Alpha, the seventh installment of the YRF Spy Universe, which has kicked off its advance ticket sales on a promising note. Amidst the buzz surrounding Shiv Rawail's direction and the future of the spy franchise, Alpha is set to make a statement, especially for Alia, whose previous film, Jigra, did not perform as well as her earlier hits.

Advance Bookings Exceed Rs 2 Crore

Advance bookings for Alpha commenced on July 1, and by the following day, ticket sales had gained significant momentum nationwide. According to data from Sacnilk, over 18,000 tickets were sold, generating nearly Rs 71 lakh in ticket revenue. When including blocked seats, the total climbs to Rs 2.1 crore, with industry analysts predicting it will surpass Rs 3 crore as more screenings are added leading up to the release.

Maharashtra has emerged as the leading market, contributing over Rs 47 lakh in advance sales, including blocked seats, with Delhi closely following. Gujarat has also provided a steady, albeit smaller, contribution. The film is set to have around 2,390 shows on its opening day across India, indicating that YRF has strategically managed the initial screen count. Experts in the industry believe this is a solid, if not extraordinary, beginning for a female-led action film, a genre that has faced challenges at the Indian box office. Projections suggest Alpha could debut with a net collection of Rs 7-8 crore on its first day, with the real challenge being whether walk-in audiences on Friday can push it into double digits once it hits theaters.

YRF's Strategic Approach for Alpha

YRF has implemented strict guidelines for exhibitors regarding the presentation of Alpha. Ticket prices are aligned with those of Akshay Kumar's Welcome To The Jungle, which is still performing well in cinemas, and the first screenings are not permitted to start before 9:30 AM. Additionally, there will be no paid preview shows.

Alpha is set to release globally on July 3 without facing a major direct competition, although it will still vie for screens with the ongoing Welcome To The Jungle, Cocktail 2, and Main Vaapas Aaunga. Furthermore, it will compete with Dhamaal 4 in the following week.
