O Ri O Sanwariya is set in the fictional town of Mangalpur, located in North India. The plot revolves around Yashoda (played by Tabu), a talented dancer from Bengal, who is in love with Vasudev (Jisshu). However, Madhav, the son of Dushund Acharya (Rajesh Sharma), harbors secret feelings for her. Enchanted by Yashoda, he seizes the chance to perform alongside her. When he discovers her relationship with Vasudev, he invokes the demon Vadhusur, leading to a series of unfortunate events, including a forced marriage that leaves Vasudev heartbroken. The film further unravels the mystery surrounding Vadhusur.

Producer Ekta Kapoor is reportedly interested in developing Bhooth Bangla into a franchise, given its success and favorable audience feedback. While no official announcement has been made regarding a sequel, the prospects seem promising. Following this project, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are set to collaborate again on Haiwaan, which will also feature Saif Ali Khan and is expected to release later this year. Additionally, there are discussions for two more films between the duo. Currently, Akshay is engaged in filming a project with Vidya Balan directed by Anees Bazmee.
