Exciting Reunion for Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan


After a significant hiatus, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are back together for the upcoming film Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. This project is generating considerable buzz and is among the most awaited films of the year. Although the thriller is set to premiere in 2026, the exact release date has yet to be confirmed by the production team. In the meantime, writer Rohan Shankar disclosed that Haiwaan is an adaptation of Priyadarshan's Malayalam film, Oppam, which starred Mohanlal and was released in 2016.

In an exclusive chat, Rohan shared that he has crafted the adapted screenplay and dialogues for Haiwaan. He stated, "Haiwaan is based on Oppam, which was a major hit with Priyadarshan and Mohanlal. It was released around 10 to 12 years ago and became a significant success in Malayalam cinema after Drishyam." He elaborated on the film's premise, revealing that Saif Ali Khan portrays a blind character originally played by Mohanlal, while Akshay Kumar takes on the role of the antagonist.


Rohan emphasized that the film features a talented cast and has been tailored for Hindi audiences. He described Haiwaan as a 'slow-paced thriller' filled with mystery and action, noting its impressive visuals. He remarked, "This was my first experience in this genre; I had previously worked in comedy. Writing for Haiwaan and being on set with Priyadarshan was a unique experience, witnessing the intense atmosphere and his shooting style."

As per IMDb, Haiwaan revolves around a visually impaired martial artist who must protect a girl from a psychopathic killer.
