After a 14-year hiatus, Akshay Kumar is teaming up once again with director Priyadarshan for the upcoming film Bhooth Bangla. This project also marks a reunion with producer Ekta Kapoor in the horror comedy genre. The trailer for Bhooth Bangla was unveiled in Mumbai on April 6, 2026, where Kapoor shared a touching anecdote about Kumar. She recounted how he once returned money to her after their previous film together underperformed at the box office, a gesture she found astonishing as it is rare in the industry.

Ekta Kapoor's Surprising Encounter with Akshay Kumar

During the trailer launch event, Ekta Kapoor expressed her desire to collaborate with Akshay Kumar again for many years. She revealed a little-known fact about the Bhool Bhulaiyaa star, recounting how their first film did not succeed. Following this, Kumar reached out to her for a meeting. When they met the next day, he surprised her by handing over a cheque.

Kapoor shared, "People are unaware of this side of him. He came with a cheque and said, 'This is money back for you. You've lost money.' I was taken aback. Nobody does this. In my 31 years, no one has ever done this for me."

She added that Kumar casually handed her the cheque, suggesting she keep it. Kapoor responded, 'No, Sir, you should do a film for me. I will earn a lot if you work with me.' This collaboration has finally materialized with Bhooth Bangla. The film that did not perform well was the gangster drama Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara (2013), directed by Milan Luthria and featuring Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.
