After a hiatus of nearly three years from the big screen, Akhil Akkineni is preparing for a significant return with his upcoming action-drama, Lenin. The film has recently attracted attention due to enthusiastic feedback from his father, Nagarjuna, who viewed the initial cut and shared a message on social media expressing his strong belief in the film. Nagarjuna's endorsement has heightened excitement among fans. Scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, Lenin is poised for a box office showdown with Ram Charan's Peddi.

Nagarjuna's Enthusiastic Review of Lenin

Nagarjuna was thoroughly impressed after watching the first cut of Lenin. He took to social media to commend the film and his son's performance, stating that audiences would see a completely different side of Akhil. His post sparked a wave of enthusiasm among fans, who celebrated this as a significant victory for the film. With a release date set for June 26, 2026, the filmmakers are confident in the movie's success, even as it prepares to compete with Ram Charan’s Peddi. Bhagyashri Borse plays the female lead, and the film was initially slated for an April 30 release.

To avoid a direct clash with Ram Charan’s Peddi, the release was moved to June 26. Although there were rumors about an earlier release on May 1 following delays with Peddi, the team has confirmed that the June 26 date will remain. Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, Lenin is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the Sithara Entertainments banner. The film features Akhil alongside Bhagyashri Borse, with music by S. Thaman.

Initially, Sreeleela was cast as the female lead, and some scenes were filmed with her. However, due to scheduling issues, she had to leave the project, allowing Bhagyashri Borse to take over the role. A teaser for the film was released on Akhil’s birthday in April 2025.
