Akhil Akkineni is relishing the success of his recent film, Lenin, which has become the most successful project of his career to date. Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, the film debuted in theaters on July 10 and features Bhagyashri Borse alongside Akhil. The narrative delves into themes of friendship, love, betrayal, and revenge, incorporating elements inspired by the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. This achievement follows a tough period for Akhil, characterized by several box office failures and health challenges. In an exclusive interview, he shared insights about Lenin's success, his personal life, and future endeavors.
Akhil Akkineni's Comeback After a Three-Year Break
Lenin is seen as a pivotal moment in Akhil Akkineni's career, especially after a series of commercial flops. The film's success marks a significant milestone for him. When asked about the feeling of this success, Akhil expressed, "I feel relieved. The audience has embraced the film wholeheartedly. Honestly, I swear to God, the feeling I have right now is that everyone is happy. It feels different when you've given people a hit, something they can genuinely feel proud of." When questioned if this success was due to manifestation, he stated, "Patience and manifestation are crucial. I acknowledge my mistakes, but I will keep striving until I succeed. If the audience had rejected Lenin, I would have worked even harder. Reflecting on my decade in the industry, I can honestly say I gave it my all. If I truly put my best into something and it still didn’t work, I would accept that."
Akhil Akkineni's Focus on Future Projects
He emphasized that he doesn't want to linger on his success for too long. "Now, I want to move on from Lenin. I'm excited about what’s next. Whether it’s success or failure, it’s all about how you handle it, and I take everything seriously. With Lenin's success, I want to transition quickly," he remarked. He acknowledged the pressure of delivering a strong pre-climax scene, stating, "I need that kind of pressure from a role. The injury I sustained caused delays, leading to a 16-month break during the filming of Lenin. By the time I finished, three years had gone by."
Akhil Akkineni Attributes Calmness to His Wife
Reflecting on his personal growth, Akhil mentioned, "I am very competitive, even in sports. Once I began acting, I learned to channel that competitive spirit more constructively. I've calmed down and worked on my mindset, which has helped me think more clearly. When you’re hyperactive, decisions can be impulsive. But being calmer allows for better thinking." He also credited his wife, Zainab Ravdjee, for bringing tranquility into his life. "I want to acknowledge someone very special—my wife. We have meaningful conversations, and there's a peaceful atmosphere at home. She understands me, which is incredibly helpful."
Akhil Akkineni's Ambitious Future Film Choices
Discussing his future film choices, Akhil stated, "What matters to me is selecting projects that push me beyond my comfort zone. Audiences have become more discerning. They don’t want to see the same Akhil repeatedly; they want to see different facets of me. I aim to be part of bold cinema that offers a unique experience. I need to feel challenged by my character and ask myself, 'How will I pull this off?'" He revealed that he already has two scripts lined up and plans to announce his next film in September after dedicating the last few years to Lenin.
