Uttarakhand pacer Akash Madhwal, who has been part of two of the Indian Premier League's (IPL) most successful teams, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), attributes their ongoing success to a calm and supportive team environment. Madhwal, who previously played for CSK, emphasized the significant impact of cricket legend MS Dhoni, noting that Dhoni's presence in the dressing room fosters a sense of tranquility and positivity among players.
Champion Teams with a Positive Atmosphere
Both MI and CSK share the title of the most successful franchises in IPL history, each boasting five championships. Madhwal, who played for MI during the 2023 and 2024 seasons before joining CSK in 2026 as a replacement for the injured Ayush Mhatre, did not participate in any matches for CSK. Currently, he is competing with Mussoorie Thunder in the ongoing Dehradun T20 League 2026, where they have advanced to the finals against Selaqui Strikers. In an interview, Madhwal praised the leadership of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma for creating an environment that allows players to thrive without undue pressure. He stated, "Both teams excel in their respective domains. In Chennai, Mahi bhai maintains a relaxed atmosphere, while Rohit bhaiya in MI also plays a similar role. The camaraderie among team members contributes to a chill environment, which I believe is a key factor in their success."

Madhwal expressed admiration for MS Dhoni's ability to instill positivity and calmness within the CSK dressing room. He highlighted Dhoni's talent for keeping players relaxed and his approachability for discussing any issues. "Having Mahi bhai at CSK is significant. His presence alone brings a positive vibe to the dressing room. He ensures players remain calm and shields them from pressure. He is always open to discussions, making it easy for players to approach him with any concerns," Madhwal remarked.

Madhwal expressed enthusiasm for the inaugural Dehradun T20 League 2026, describing it as an excellent platform for both seasoned players and newcomers. He noted the increasing audience engagement and praised his team, Mussoorie Thunder, for their impressive performances, particularly highlighting young player Lakshya Raichandani, who has been named captain of the India U-19 team for the upcoming series against Australia. "This district league is a fantastic opportunity for us seniors and the young talents. The league is gaining popularity, and our team is performing exceptionally well. Lakshya Raichandani, who has recently been called up for India, is doing great. Everything is going well for us," he stated.
