Upcoming Film Release

Adivi Sesh is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated film Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha, which is scheduled to hit theaters on April 10. The movie features Mrunal Thakur alongside Sesh and includes Anurag Kashyap in the cast. Initially, the film was set to premiere on March 19, 2026, but Adivi announced on March 11 via social media that the release has been postponed due to a crowded box office. This change allows Dacoit to avoid a direct competition with Akshay Kumar's Bhoot Bangla, which has also been delayed by a week.

In the meantime, Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2, featuring Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mirza, has dominated the box office, becoming one of the highest-grossing films in recent times. This raises the question: will the success of Dhurandhar 2 impact Adivi Sesh's Dacoit during its theatrical run?

In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Adivi, who began his career with the 2002 film Sontham and had a supporting role in SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Beginning, acknowledged the event film status of Dhurandhar. He compared its popularity to the IPL, which captivates audiences for a few months, while also emphasizing the diversity of cinema in India.

“I see Dhurandhar 2 as a wave,” Adivi remarked, adding, “It’s beautiful, but I believe there’s ample space in India for various types of cinema and audiences to enjoy different films.” Even before its release, Dacoit has garnered significant praise from industry veterans who have responded positively to its trailer. Adivi expressed, “I feel like I’m in a Zen-like state. I genuinely believe we have created something that every passionate writer, actor, or filmmaker would strive for.”

Reflecting on the film, Adivi stated that they are “truly proud” of the “beautiful love story” woven into the fabric of an action film. He noted, “It combines elements of what I know and am recognized for, along with new experiences.” He expressed excitement about the audience's reaction, saying, “There’s a wonderful optimism that comes with trying something new, and I can’t wait for viewers to see it.”

Dacoit is a bilingual romantic action film in Telugu and Hindi, centered around a revenge narrative. Adivi Sesh was last seen in the 2002 film HIT: The Second Case, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, while Mrunal Thakur recently appeared in the romantic drama Do Deewane Seher Mein alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi.
