Aditya Dhar Faces New Legal Challenges Amidst 'Dhurandhar 2' Success

Aditya Dhar's Legal Troubles Continue

Despite the box office success of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2, the director is entangled in ongoing legal issues. His production company, B62 Studios, is currently facing a lawsuit from Trimurti Films, which alleges copyright infringement regarding the use of the well-known song “Rang De Lal” in Dhurandhar: The Revenge. This song has gained significant attention online. While Dhar enjoys the accolades from Dhurandhar 2, he is also confronted with mounting legal challenges.

New Lawsuit Against Aditya Dhar's Studio

Reports indicate that Trimurti Films has accused B62 Studios of utilizing the song “Rang De Lal” or a version closely resembling it without the required permissions. This track, originally from the 1989 film Tridev, was co-composed by Anand–Milind and features lyrics by Sameer Anjaan, sung by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee. It remains a beloved classic even after many years.

According to a report from Bar and Bench, Trimurti Films asserts its ownership and control over the rights related to the musical work and sound recording. The lawsuit claims that the unauthorized use of the song constitutes copyright infringement, including illegal reproduction and public communication of the work. The producers are seeking immediate injunctive relief to prevent further use of the song, along with damages and other legal remedies.

Additionally, Trimurti Films has expressed concerns regarding the commercial exploitation of the song. With the film set to be released in theaters, on streaming platforms, and through promotional efforts, the company argues that continued unauthorized use could result in substantial financial and reputational harm.

Aditya Dhar's Ongoing Script Theft Case

This legal issue arises as Aditya Dhar is also navigating another significant case. Recently, the Bombay High Court provided interim relief to him in a defamation lawsuit related to Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Dhar had filed against filmmaker Santosh Kumar RS, who accused him of plagiarizing a script for the spy thriller.

During the proceedings, Justice Arif Doctor noted that Dhar had presented a prima facie case. Consequently, the court issued an interim order preventing Santosh Kumar from repeating the allegations or making similar claims until further hearings. The next court date is set for April 16. While the High Court's ruling provides some respite for Dhar, the lawsuit from Trimurti Films introduces a new hurdle.
