Abhishek Bachchan Shines in 'Raja Shivaji'
Currently, Abhishek Bachchan is making headlines for his performance in 'Raja Shivaji'. In this film, he portrays the character of Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale, the elder brother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, played by Riteish Deshmukh. Over ten days since its release, the film continues to receive an enthusiastic response from audiences. Riteish Deshmukh not only produced and directed the film but also stars in the lead role. Alongside Abhishek and Riteish, the cast includes notable names like Vidya Balan, Genelia D'Souza, and Salman Khan. Amidst the buzz, there are discussions about the cast, including Abhishek, not taking any fees for their roles. Abhishek has now addressed these claims directly.
Did Abhishek Bachchan Waive His Fee for 'Raja Shivaji'?
In an interview with a news outlet, Abhishek commented on the reports of not charging a fee for 'Raja Shivaji'. He stated, 'Nowadays, discussions revolve around facts and figures, and people seem to enjoy talking about actors' fees and demands. However, at its core, this is an art form that begins from the heart. When there is genuine belief in a project, money and amenities become secondary. For me, acting is an emotional connection. Inspiration is the true essence of art.'
Praise for Riteish and Genelia
During the conversation, Abhishek also praised Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza. He remarked, 'In today's cinema, a lot of calculations are made, but Riteish and Genelia have demonstrated that not everything is based on numbers. For them, this project was sacred. They never viewed it merely as a project but treated it as something much larger and more significant.'
Abhishek on the Film's Grandeur
Discussing the film's scale and challenges, Abhishek noted that no Marathi film has ever been made on such a grand scale before. He expressed, 'Keeping the unit happy, safe, and motivated was quite challenging. However, Riteish and Genelia managed these responsibilities excellently. I never heard any complaints on set. I consider them family. They are lovely, down-to-earth, and trustworthy friends. Having grown up in Mumbai, I was familiar with Marathi, but speaking it on screen for the first time made me a bit nervous.'
