Box Office Performance of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' on Opening Day

Aamir Khan has made his much-anticipated return to cinemas with the release of 'Sitaare Zameen Par', generating significant buzz since its announcement. The film has garnered a positive reception from audiences, although its box office performance on the first day was moderate.

As reported by Sacnilk, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' earned ₹11.50 crore on its debut day.

In addition to Aamir Khan, the film features Genelia D’souza in a leading role, alongside a talented cast that includes Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, Aayush Bhansali, Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, Zeenat Hussain, and Nikhat Khan in key roles.

Reports indicate that Aamir Khan has opted out of an OTT release for 'Sitaare Zameen Par', instead favoring a pay-per-view model. This approach allows viewers to pay specifically for the film they wish to watch, eliminating the need for a subscription to any streaming service. This method mirrors the traditional cinema experience, providing additional advantages to producers.

As per insights from a media outlet, Aamir Khan is keen on utilizing this strategy for 'Sitaare Zameen Par'. A source mentioned, “Aamir believes that releasing films directly on streaming platforms post-theatrical run discourages audiences from attending cinemas. This is also why the film's poster does not feature any streaming logos.”

Recent reports suggest that Aamir Khan turned down a ₹120 crore offer from a major streaming service for the film's OTT release.

The movie is an official adaptation of the 2018 Spanish film 'Champions', centering on a suspended basketball coach who must complete community service by training a team of players with disabilities for an upcoming basketball tournament.
