Aamir Khan's Upcoming Film Encounters Certification Issues

Aamir Khan is preparing for his highly awaited comeback with 'Sitaare Zameen Par,' a spiritual sequel to his acclaimed 2007 film 'Taare Zameen Par.' This new project, which centers on children with special needs and features Aamir as a basketball coach, is currently facing an unexpected obstacle.

Reports indicate that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has requested two cuts from the film, a demand that Aamir has declined, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the film's creative vision. A source from a prominent Bollywood outlet shared, 'The CBFC has proposed two cuts. Aamir Khan believes the film should be approved without these alterations. He and director R.S. Prasanna have invested significant thought into the film. Certain scenes and dialogues are entirely appropriate when viewed in context.'

Aamir is set to meet with the CBFC Examining Committee to discuss the matter further. The source added, 'Since Aamir Khan is not willing to accept the cuts, the censor certificate for 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has not been granted. He plans to meet the CBFC Examining Committee again on Monday to present his perspective. We hope to reach a resolution, allowing the CBFC to approve the film by June 16. Once that happens, advance ticket sales can commence, as cinemas cannot sell tickets without a censor certificate.'

Directed by R.S. Prasanna and featuring Genelia Deshmukh, this film is a remake of the Spanish movie 'Champions' (2018) and is scheduled for release in theaters on June 20, 2025.
