Aamir Khan's Honest Take on 'Mann'

Indra Kumar's film Mann, a remake of the 1957 classic An Affair to Remember, has been criticized for its lack of originality and depth. Starring Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala, the film has been a point of embarrassment for the actors, especially considering their previous collaboration in Akele Hum Akele Tum, which was also an unofficial adaptation of a Hollywood film.

In a conversation following the release of Mann, Aamir Khan was asked if he still supported the film. He stated, "I stand by all my films. While I recognize their flaws, I will always defend them on an emotional level. I cannot simply dismiss any of my works as bakwas. I must take responsibility for their shortcomings."

Khan further elaborated on his experience during the filming, mentioning that he had voiced his concerns to director Indra Kumar about the script's direction. He expressed, "It was my duty as the lead actor to support Mann, even if I disagreed with certain aspects."

When questioned if taking on Mann was a mistake, he replied, "Mistake is a strong term. If offered the same role today, I would still accept it. It’s a remake of a beloved film, but perhaps Indu wasn’t the ideal director for this project. There are moments in filmmaking where I sense significant issues, but once I commit, I am fully invested."
