In the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections, 442 women are contesting, with an impressive 121 of them classified as millionaires. This means that approximately 27.38% of female candidates belong to the millionaire category. To put it simply, one in every 3.65 female candidates is a millionaire. Leading the pack is Leemaroj Martin from AIADMK, representing the Lalgudi constituency, who boasts the highest wealth among candidates, surpassing any male counterpart with assets exceeding ₹58.63 crores.
Analysis of Wealthy Female Candidates in West Bengal
Comparatively, West Bengal presents a different scenario. Out of 2,920 candidates, 385 are women, with 75 of them being millionaires. This indicates that about 19.48% of female candidates in Bengal are wealthy. In simpler terms, one in every 5.13 female candidates is a millionaire. The wealthiest among them is Nandita Chowdhury from TMC, contesting from the Howrah South seat, with assets exceeding ₹26 crores.
