Suvendu Adhikari Faces Opposition Fury During Campaign Events
Suvendu Adhikari's Rising Temper in West Bengal
Suvendu Adhikari, the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, has been exhibiting increasing frustration during his campaign rallies. His appearances have often been met with protests, leading to heated reactions from him. This pattern has been observed multiple times, with Adhikari even issuing threats to his opponents. Recently, he admonished a group chanting 'Jai Bangla' in front of him, reminding them that they would eventually return to BJP-ruled states.
Upon arriving in Howrah district after an incident in Nandigram, Adhikari displayed similar irritation. He appeared eager to exit his vehicle, but security personnel had to intervene as protesters continued to chant slogans against him.
What Sparked the Tension in Howrah?
On Wednesday evening, a rally was being held in the Bally assembly constituency by BJP candidate Sanjay Singh, with Suvendu Adhikari leading the event. During this rally, members of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) approached and began chanting 'Jai Bangla'.

As TMC supporters waved their flags, tensions escalated. Adhikari, visibly angered, began shouting 'thief, thief' at the protesters and attempted to exit his vehicle to confront them, but his security team managed to restrain him.
Adhikari's Frustration Explained
Suvendu Adhikari is contesting elections from two constituencies this time: his stronghold Nandigram and Bhawanipur, where he faces off against Mamata Banerjee. In Nandigram, he is up against his former ally, Pabitra Kar, who is now rallying support against him. Adhikari is encountering significant opposition in both areas.
The protests against him are intense, especially since Pabitra Kar, who played a crucial role in Adhikari's victory in the 2021 assembly elections, has mobilized supporters against him. Wherever Adhikari goes, TMC activists are vocally opposing him.

As a BJP leader, TMC labels him an outsider. With Pabitra Kar in Nandigram and Mamata Banerjee in Bhawanipur, Adhikari faces dual challenges while also campaigning for other candidates in addition to his own constituencies.
