Guwahati, May 12: On Tuesday, a man was apprehended at the swearing-in ceremony for the new Assam government, reportedly in possession of several live rounds of ammunition.


The bullets were discovered during a security check at the entrance of the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, according to officials.


"He has been taken into custody for further questioning and is being transported to Basistha police station," stated a police representative. No weapons were found on the individual, he confirmed.


"An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the details surrounding the incident and to evaluate any potential security threats," he added.


This incident occurred just moments before Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya was scheduled to administer the oath of office to Himanta Biswa Sarma as chief minister, along with the new Council of Ministers.


The event is expected to attract numerous high-profile attendees from the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, and over 40 Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from the NDA.


Additionally, several diplomats and prominent industrialists are anticipated to be present, with an expected crowd of around 100,000 people.
