In preparation for the upcoming Panchayati Raj Institutions General Elections 2026, a rehearsal for the first phase was held on Thursday at the Government College in Bharmour. The event was led by SDM & Returning Officer Vikas Sharma.


The rehearsal saw participation from 388 officials and staff, which included 88 presiding officers, 263 polling officers, and 37 reserve personnel. The session provided comprehensive training on various aspects of the polling process.


During his address, SDM Sharma highlighted the importance of elections as a fundamental element of democracy, stressing that every official involved in the electoral process has a vital role to play. He encouraged all personnel to approach the training with seriousness and to fulfill their duties with dedication, vigilance, and transparency.


Polling is scheduled to take place from 7 AM to 3 PM. The rehearsal included instructions on procedures at polling stations, management of election materials, voting techniques, and other critical guidelines.


Additionally, SDM Sharma announced that the second phase of the election rehearsal is set for May 21, followed by the third phase on May 24, both taking place at Government College Bharmour.


The rehearsal was also attended by Observer Kulveer Singh Rana, BDO Tavinder Kumar, and other officials involved in the electoral process.
