Mamata Banerjee Critiques BJP's Campaign Strategies in West Bengal Elections
BJP's Star Campaigner in West Bengal
In the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Yogi Adityanath as a key campaigner. While Adityanath was actively promoting the BJP in Bengal, violent protests erupted in Noida. This prompted Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and leader of the Trinamool Congress, to mockingly comment that while Uttar Pradesh is in turmoil, Adityanath is in Bengal proclaiming that the bulldozer will continue to operate. Banerjee criticized the BJP, asserting that the party is willing to go to any lengths to seize control of Bengal, and expressed her disbelief at the shamelessness of the current government.
Mamata's Strong Words Against BJP
Banerjee took aim at the BJP by referencing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the transfer of officials, and various decisions made by the Election Commission. She stated that throughout her political career, she has encountered numerous governments and leaders, but has never witnessed one as corrupt, shameless, tyrannical, and exploitative as the current administration. She emphasized that the Trinamool Congress will respond to this challenge through democratic means.
Mamata Banerjee's Remarks on Yogi Adityanath
Addressing the situation in Noida, Banerjee criticized Yogi Adityanath, saying, 'Uttar Pradesh is ablaze, yet Yogi Babaji comes here to deliver speeches, claiming bulldozers will operate in Bengal too. However, bulldozers do not work here. The people of Bengal salute, greet, and chant Vande Mataram. Young men and women from here go to BJP-ruled states and face violence. They are tortured and labeled as infiltrators for speaking Bengali. This time, the response will be sealed in the ballot box of democracy. This month, they are introducing a delimitation bill that will fragment Bengal, leading to the implementation of the NRC.'
Mamata's Critique of BJP's Tactics
Banerjee further stated, 'This time, the battle is different. The BJP is resorting to extreme measures to capture Bengal. They have removed millions of names from the electoral rolls and have halted all funds for the state. Their strategies are based on our seat count. If any EVM malfunctions, they won't replace it; instead, they will tamper with it and tell people to wait for a new machine. I have never seen anyone play as dirty as the BJP. Having served as an MP seven times and a central minister four times, I have seen many Prime Ministers, but I have never encountered a government as shameless, tyrannical, corrupt, and violent as the BJP.'
BJP's Ambitions in West Bengal
It is noteworthy that BJP leaders are asserting that they will defeat Mamata Banerjee this time around. However, during the last elections, despite their efforts, the Trinamool Congress increased its seat count. The BJP managed to secure 77 seats but was still far from forming a government.
