Mamata Banerjee's Press Conference Following Election Defeat

On Tuesday, West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a press conference after her party's defeat in the state assembly elections. During this event, she made several serious allegations against the BJP.

In a significant announcement, she stated, 'I will not resign from the Chief Minister's position at Lok Bhavan.'

Mamata attributed the loss of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to the central election commission, claiming that Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah collaborated to defeat her party, with assistance from central security forces and the election commission.

Claims of Election Manipulation

She raised concerns about TMC workers being assaulted by BJP members in Bengal, asserting that violence occurred within polling booths. CM Mamata declared, 'We did not lose the election. The BJP used the election commission to secure their victory. The election commission is the villain in this scenario.'

Allegations of Seat Theft

Mamata made it clear that her battle was not against the BJP but rather against the election commission. She accused them of stealing 100 seats in West Bengal, stating, 'I have never witnessed such electoral violence in my life. Since 2004, I have not seen such oppression. The election commission is the main villain.'

Support from the INDIA Alliance

She mentioned that the INDIA alliance stands with her, noting that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have reached out to her. Additionally, she received calls from Arvind Kejriwal, Uddhav Thackeray, Hemant Soren, and Tejashwi Yadav, all expressing their support. Mamata also announced that Akhilesh Yadav would be visiting Kolkata soon.

The TMC leader expressed her determination, saying, 'I am now like a free bird. I have work to do, but we will not stop fighting.' She added that the BJP has begun to harass her supporters, including families from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, with threats of violence.
