Police Inquiry into Allegations Against Assam CM
The Assam police are actively searching for senior Congress leader and spokesperson Pawan Khera in connection with serious allegations against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family. Authorities even visited Khera's residence in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, but he was not present there.
Khera Responds with Video Statement
In response, Pawan Khera released a video questioning the actions of Himanta Biswa Sarma. He accused the government of employing intimidation tactics, asserting that Congress leaders will not be deterred by such methods. Khera called for an investigation into alleged foreign companies linked to the Chief Minister's family and citizenship documents.
Concerns Over Police Actions
Expressing his dismay over the police actions, Khera stated, 'A hundred police officers came to my flat in Delhi. They took an old phone and other devices kept in memory of my late sister. Why do you want to silence Congress? Why do you want to silence me? I am from Mewar and a soldier of Rahul Gandhi.'
Serious Documents Referenced by Khera
Khera referenced serious documents from government websites of Wyoming and Utah in the United States. He noted that several details became public following the revocation of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). According to Khera, these documents mention companies like Beyond Bhuyan Properties (LLC).
Allegations of Citizenship and Company Ownership
He further claimed that the documents list Reniki Bhuyan Sharma as an 'Authorized Member' and mention citizenship from Antigua and Barbuda. Khera stated, 'We are making the documents we have public and demanding an investigation.'
UK Data and Changing Company Addresses
Khera shared data from a UK government website, indicating that the registered address of Bhuyan Properties Limited has changed multiple times in London. He pointed out that the address change was recorded on March 16, 2026, and also mentioned addresses in Dubai and Dhaka, Bangladesh. He raised direct questions about the authenticity of passports from Egypt, UAE's Golden Visa, and Antigua, asking if these shell companies were established through fake KYC.
Background of the Allegations
Recently, during a press conference, Khera made serious allegations, claiming that the Chief Minister's wife holds multiple passports from countries like UAE, Egypt, and Antigua. He also mentioned a benami company worth ₹53,000 crore in Wyoming, USA, and undisclosed properties in Dubai. These allegations have intensified the political atmosphere in Assam just before the elections.
Police Action at Khera's Residence
Reports indicate that a team from the Assam police visited Khera's home on Tuesday morning, but he was not there at the time. The police conducted a search of the premises and stated that they found some important documents. After approximately two hours of action, the police emerged from the residence.
