Major Announcements by Amit Shah in West Bengal Rally
On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made significant announcements during a BJP rally in West Bengal. He stated that if the BJP forms the government in the state, a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented, a complete ban on triple talaq will be enforced, and polygamy will be abolished.
Commitments to Women and Youth
While addressing a gathering in Ranaghat, Shah promised various initiatives aimed at women and youth. He declared that starting May 4, once the BJP is in power, every mother and sister will receive ₹3,000 monthly in their bank accounts. Additionally, unemployed youth will also be granted ₹3,000 each month, and all women will enjoy free travel on buses.
Crackdown on Cattle Smuggling
Shah highlighted the issue of cattle smuggling in Nadia district, pledging that a special task force would be established to completely eradicate this problem once the BJP takes charge. During a separate gathering in Nadia, he paid tribute to martyr Jontu Ali Sheikh, stating that justice was served through Operation Sindoor, which addressed the encounter with Pakistan.
Targeting Opposition Parties
Amit Shah criticized Mamata Banerjee and the Congress, claiming that during their rule, terrorists were treated with leniency. He noted that since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, significant military actions have been taken against terrorism, including surgical strikes after the Uri attack and airstrikes following the Pulwama incident.
Ending Syndicate Rule
Shah assured that under a BJP government, the reign of goons and syndicates in Bengal would come to an end, leading to strengthened law and order and increased transparency in administration. He mentioned that the first phase of voting for the assembly elections saw a remarkable turnout of 91.78%. The second phase is scheduled for April 29, with results to be announced on May 4. He urged the public to vote fearlessly in the upcoming phases.
