Zomato Founder Launches Unique Recruitment for Health-Tech Startup

Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato, is taking a novel approach to hiring for his health-tech startup, Temple. He has set specific fitness standards, requiring applicants to have a body fat percentage below 16% for men and 26% for women. This unique criterion aims to attract individuals who are not only skilled in technology but also committed to fitness. Goyal envisions Temple as a groundbreaking device for elite athletes, measuring brain flow with unmatched precision. Candidates who don't meet the fitness requirements but are willing to achieve them within three months can still apply, albeit on probation. Innovative Hiring Approach at Temple

Deepinder Goyal, the visionary behind Zomato, has embarked on a distinctive recruitment campaign for his new health-tech venture, Temple. In a surprising twist, he has set unconventional criteria for potential hires, emphasizing that a high IQ alone won't suffice. Instead, candidates must also meet specific fitness standards.

On February 27, 2026, Goyal took to social media to announce openings for various positions, including machine learning experts and neural decoding researchers. However, he made it clear that only those with a body fat percentage below 16% for men and 26% for women are eligible to apply.

In his post, Goyal elaborated, "We are creating products for individuals who push their physical limits. We aspire to embody that spirit ourselves, not just cater to it. Therefore, we seek applicants who are serious about fitness and meet the body fat criteria." He previously described Temple as an innovative device designed to measure brain flow with unprecedented accuracy in real-time.

Goyal stated, "At Temple, we are developing the ultimate wearable technology for elite athletes, capable of measuring metrics that no other device can, with unmatched precision." He emphasized that the ideal candidates would be engineers who are also passionate athletes, eager to rigorously test the product until it reaches perfection.

Additionally, Goyal mentioned that those who do not currently meet the body fat requirements but are committed to achieving them within three months are welcome to apply. However, they would be placed on probation until they reach their fitness goals.
