Why Odisha's Anugola Aluminium Park is the Next Big Investment Opportunity for Manufacturers
Odisha's Call for Aluminium Manufacturers
The Odisha government is actively seeking investments from aluminium downstream manufacturers for the Anugola Aluminium Park. This initiative emphasizes the region's abundant raw materials, ready-to-use infrastructure, and attractive investment incentives aimed at industries focused on value-added production.
This investment opportunity was presented during a roadshow in Kolkata on Monday, organized by the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) in collaboration with the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). The event saw participation from Odisha’s investment promotion agency, IPICOL, and the industrial infrastructure development agency, IDCO.
Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, addressed attendees, highlighting Odisha's significance as a key player in India's aluminium sector. He mentioned the country's Aluminium Vision, which aims for a six-fold increase in aluminium production by 2047. Reddy pointed out that Odisha contributes approximately 60-70% of India's aluminium output and over 70% of its bauxite production, urging West Bengal industries to consider investment prospects in Odisha.
He characterized Odisha as a natural ally for the advancement of aluminium downstream manufacturing due to its established industrial framework. Keshav Chandra, Secretary in the Union Ministry of Mines, indicated that a significant expansion of NALCO's operations in the state is being contemplated.
This proposed expansion could enhance the availability of raw materials and lay a stronger foundation for further investments in downstream industries. The roadshow highlighted the Anugola Aluminium Park, a collaborative venture between IDCO and NALCO, designed as a specialized industrial hub for aluminium ancillary and downstream manufacturing.
Situated near NALCO’s aluminium smelter, the park provides manufacturers with direct access to primary aluminium. Its industrial infrastructure, shared facilities, and dedicated molten-metal transportation corridor are tailored to promote efficient production and value addition. During the event, IPICOL reaffirmed its dedication to facilitating investments by aiding companies with land acquisition, regulatory approvals, incentives, and project execution.
