On Friday, May 23, Virat Kohli had a promising outing with the bat during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. RCB was tasked with chasing a daunting target of 232 runs set by SRH, and Kohli quickly made his intentions clear.
He opened his innings with a boundary, striking the first ball he faced for four runs. On the second delivery from SRH captain Pat Cummins, Kohli executed a cut shot over backward point for another four. He continued his aggressive approach, hitting Jaydev Unadkat for four runs in the following over and then punishing Cummins with two more boundaries in the third over.
Kohli's onslaught didn't stop there; he also targeted his former teammate Harshal Patel, hitting him for two additional fours. By the fifth over, Kohli had reached 50 runs in just 4.4 overs, showcasing his explosive batting.
In the final over of the powerplay, Kohli launched his first six, sending Eshan Malinga's delivery over deep mid-wicket. At the conclusion of the powerplay, RCB stood at 72 runs without losing a wicket, with Kohli scoring 42 off just 22 balls.

However, Kohli's promising innings came to an abrupt end in the seventh over. Attempting a cut shot against Harsh Dubey, he misjudged the delivery and ended up giving a catch to Abhishek Sharma at backward point. This moment was certainly not one of his best.
As Kohli walked off the field, his frustration was evident. The camera quickly panned to Anushka Sharma in the stands, who appeared utterly shocked, reflecting the disbelief shared by fans witnessing the unexpected turn of events.
