New Delhi, April 22: On Wednesday, Tesla launched its new six-seater Model Y L in India, enhancing its local offerings with an electric SUV tailored for families, emphasizing space, comfort, and performance. The unveiling occurred at the Ballard Pier Downtown Experience Centre, with online reservations starting immediately on the official website.
The Model Y L will be accessible for public viewing from April 23, 2026, at Tesla’s experience centers located in prominent areas such as Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, Aerocity in Delhi, and Gurugram. The company anticipates that deliveries will commence in June 2026 throughout India.
Marketed as a premium family vehicle, the Model Y L boasts a claimed driving range of up to 681 km (WLTP) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds. It features a three-row, six-seat layout designed to maximize cabin space, comfort, and versatility. The second-row captain seats are equipped with powered armrests, ventilation, heating, and one-touch folding capabilities, while the third row includes power recline, climate control vents, and easy-fold functionality.
The vehicle prioritizes ride comfort and refinement, incorporating acoustic glass, an enhanced suspension system, and adaptive damping technology to improve handling and minimize road vibrations.
For an elevated in-car experience, it includes an 18-speaker audio system with a subwoofer, alongside connected features such as live traffic visualization, satellite-view maps, real-time camera access, and streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Netflix.
The starting price for the Model Y L is set at Rs 61.99 lakh, with financing options available from Rs 49,000 per month. This launch signifies another milestone in Tesla’s growth in India, where the company is also enhancing its charging and service infrastructure.
Currently, Tesla operates five Supercharger stations in India, featuring a total of 20 Superchargers and 14 Wall Connectors. The company plans to establish seven additional Supercharger stations along major highways connecting cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
On the service side, Tesla continues to utilize its direct-to-customer model, providing over-the-air software updates and remote diagnostics to reduce maintenance needs.
