Investigation Launched into TCS Nashik Allegations

Mumbai: N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, expressed deep concern regarding the sexual harassment allegations reported at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) office in Nashik. He described the situation as 'gravely concerning and anguishing' and confirmed that an investigation is being conducted by a senior executive.

Chandrasekaran stated, 'The complaints and allegations from the Nashik branch of TCS are indeed troubling.' He revealed that TCS's Chief Operating Officer, Arathi Subramanian, is overseeing a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the facts and identify those accountable.

The allegations involve claims of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion made by eight female employees at the Nashik office of the multinational corporation.

Chandrasekaran emphasized that the company is treating this incident with the utmost seriousness. He noted that actions have already been initiated against the accused, and TCS is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigations.

He reiterated the company's commitment to a 'zero-tolerance policy' regarding any form of misconduct or coercion by its employees.

He assured that strict actions will be enforced against anyone found guilty during the investigation, and necessary process improvements will be implemented promptly.

In response to the complaints, police established a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the allegations made by the eight employees, who reported mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues, claiming that their complaints were ignored by the HR department.

Authorities have arrested seven individuals, including a female HR manager from the company.

In its initial response, TCS reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment and confirmed that several staff members have been suspended.

'TCS has always upheld the highest standards of safety and well-being for our employees. Upon learning of the situation in Nashik, we acted swiftly,' the company stated.
