Tata Group's Commitment to Addressing Misconduct

In light of escalating allegations of sexual harassment and religious coercion, N Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons, reaffirmed the Tata Group's strict zero-tolerance stance against any form of misconduct by its workforce. He announced that Aarthi Subramanian, the chief operating officer at TCS, will spearhead the investigation into these serious claims.

Chandrasekaran emphasized, "The Tata Group maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of coercion or misconduct by its employees. A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to ascertain the facts and identify all individuals involved in this matter." He assured that appropriate and stringent actions would be taken against anyone found culpable, and any necessary improvements to processes would be swiftly implemented and enforced.

He further stated, "This incident is being treated with the utmost seriousness. Initial actions have already been taken against the accused employees, and the company is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigations." Numerous female employees from Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) Nashik office have come forward with accusations against their colleagues, citing instances of sexual harassment and religious coercion.

According to police investigations, at least eight women have reported incidents, resulting in multiple FIRs being filed. The allegations encompass inappropriate touching, sexually explicit comments, exploitation under the guise of marriage, and attempts to violate modesty.

In response to these troubling reports, an IT industry association has lodged a formal complaint against TCS with the Labour Ministry, expressing grave concerns regarding the incidents at the Nashik facility. The complaint highlighted the serious nature of the allegations made by several female employees, indicating significant deficiencies in workplace safety and accountability within the organization. Following these allegations, TCS has publicly stated its commitment to cooperating with law enforcement.
