Swiggy Instamart Welcomes Gautam Swaroop as New Chief Business Officer
Leadership Transition at Swiggy Instamart
Following the recent departures of its chief business officer (CBO) and chief operating officer (COO), Swiggy Instamart has appointed Gautam Swaroop as the new CBO. In this role, Swaroop will be responsible for overseeing the platform's commercial activities, which include customer acquisition, category management, brand collaborations, and overall business growth. The previous CBO, Hari Kumar, resigned not long ago, and COO Ankit Jain also stepped down around the same period.
Upon his appointment, Swaroop expressed enthusiasm about joining Instamart at a pivotal moment in its development. He stated, "I am thrilled to be part of Instamart during this crucial phase of growth. I am eager to collaborate with teams across the organization to enhance growth, improve consumer and partner experiences, and generate lasting value as we expand our reach." Girish Menon, the chief human resources officer at Swiggy, noted that Instamart is currently at a significant point in its journey, broadening its product range and strengthening brand partnerships.
Gautam Swaroop brings over 20 years of diverse experience in consulting, pharmaceuticals, and technology to his new position. He began his professional journey at McKinsey & Company, where he dedicated a decade to strategy and operational transformations. He later joined Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, where he played a key role in increasing the company's emerging markets revenue from $37 million to $190 million.
Recent Leadership Changes
Recently, both Hari Kumar and Ankit Jain left Swiggy Instamart after their tenure at Flipkart, citing personal reasons for their departures. Jain was responsible for managing the operations of the quick commerce segment, which included overseeing dark store operations, network design, and inventory planning. Both leaders had been closely collaborating with CEO Amitesh Jha. Currently, Instamart operates in more than 131 cities, utilizing over 1,143 dark stores and boasting an average of 13.3 million monthly active users.
