Swiggy Increases Platform Fees for Food Orders
Swiggy's New Fee Structure
Swiggy has announced a revision in its service fees, raising the cost for users ordering food through its app. The new platform fee is set at Rs 17.58 per order, which includes GST, an increase from the previous Rs 14.99. This adjustment follows a similar move by competitor Zomato, which recently raised its platform fee by Rs 2.40, bringing the pre-GST charge to Rs 14.90. Consequently, customers now face a total of Rs 17.58 per order, aligning with Swiggy's updated rates.
These simultaneous adjustments indicate that both Swiggy and Zomato are responding to comparable market dynamics. For consumers, this translates to a slight increase in expenses with each order placed.
This is not the first instance of Swiggy increasing its platform fee; in August 2025, the company raised the fee from Rs 12 to Rs 14 in certain areas, attributing the hike to a surge in order volumes. The platform fee, a fixed charge applied to every order, has become a regular aspect of food delivery pricing.
While these incremental increases may appear minor, they can accumulate significantly for regular users. The ongoing rise in fees also underscores how delivery platforms are optimizing their revenue models without making substantial changes to the base prices of food items.
