Significant Hike in Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Amid Global Tensions

The price of commercial LPG cylinders has seen a substantial increase of Rs 993, now costing Rs 3,071.50 in Delhi, due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict. This marks the third hike since late February, impacting sectors like restaurants and hotels. In contrast, domestic LPG prices remain unchanged, ensuring stability for consumers. Despite the rise in commercial LPG, petrol and diesel prices will not be affected, providing some relief amidst fluctuating global fuel prices. Price Increase for Commercial LPG Cylinders

New Delhi: In light of the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, the cost of commercial LPG cylinders (19 kg) has surged by Rs 993. This adjustment comes as pressures mount to elevate fuel prices due to the unrest in West Asia. Consequently, the new price for a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi is now set at Rs 3,071.50. This marks the third price increase since February 28, following a rise of Rs 144 in March and an additional Rs 200 hike on April 1. The escalation in commercial LPG prices is expected to impact the restaurant and hotel sectors significantly. In contrast, the price of domestic LPG (14.2 kg) will remain stable, with no alterations announced.

Impact on Petrol and Diesel PricesDespite the fluctuations in LPG prices, there will be no changes to the retail prices of petrol and diesel. Additionally, the cost of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) for domestic airlines will also stay the same. According to the Indian Oil Corporation, "The retail prices of petrol, diesel, and domestic LPG (14.2 kg cylinders) have remained unchanged, fully insulating domestic consumers from the recent increase in international fuel prices. No change in prices of domestic LPG (14.2 kg) for 33 crore domestic LPG consumers. No change in ATF prices for domestic airlines (scheduled operations)." Overall, around 80% of petroleum products have seen no price adjustments, ensuring stability for most consumers. However, prices for bulk and commercial LPG cylinders, which account for less than 1% of total consumption, have been revised. Additionally, bulk diesel and ATF prices for international airline operations have been increased, while approximately 4% of petroleum products have experienced a decrease, reflecting the volatile nature of global pricing trends.
