Sheru Classic 2026: A Milestone for Indian Fitness on the Global Stage
Sheru Classic 2026: A Grand Conclusion
The Sheru Classic 2026 event wrapped up at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, attracting nearly 150,000 visitors and featuring around 250 participants from five different nations. This festival, recognized as India's largest health and fitness celebration, serves as a vital platform for local talent aspiring to make their mark internationally.
The Evolution of Sheru Classic
Established by Sheru Aangrish, Sheru Classic has expanded its reach to nine countries and collaborates with the IFBB Pro League and NPC. The event has been hosted in various markets, including the USA, UK, and UAE. Notably, it introduced Asia's inaugural IFBB professional bodybuilding competition in 2011, facilitating Indian athletes' participation in global events like Mr. Olympia, as highlighted in a recent press release.
Sheru Aangrish: A Journey Through Bodybuilding
Sheru Aangrish, a former Mr. India from Ludhiana, Punjab, began his training at a young age alongside his brother Hemant. He competed at elite levels in professional bodybuilding before pursuing an MBA in Finance at King's College London. Over nearly two decades, Aangrish has transformed Sheru Classic from a single event into a prominent platform for fitness enthusiasts.
New Partnership Enhances Global Ambitions
The latest supporter of the festival is JKC Sports, a venture of the JK Group, which has invested in the Sheru Classic Universe to enhance its global presence and support Make-in-India talent. Launched in 2025 by Raghavpat Singhania and Madhav Singhania of JK Cement, JKC Sports focuses on sports infrastructure, technology, and fitness.
"We view Sheru Classic as a vital platform for Make-in-India talent to gain international exposure," stated Madhav Singhania, CEO and Joint Managing Director of JK Cement and Co-Founder of JKC Sports. "Our goal is to create a clear pathway from India to the global arena, not just through Olympia but also via new initiatives in technology, infrastructure, and fitness IPs."
"As India evolves into a global superpower, fitness and wellness will play a crucial role in enhancing productivity and fostering a commitment to nation-building," he added. "The JK Group has long embraced the philosophy of nation-building, and through JKC Sports, we now recognize sport and fitness as essential components of our future growth."
Aangrish's Vision for Indian Athletes
For Aangrish, this partnership addresses a significant need. "Indian athletes possess immense talent but often lack the necessary platforms to showcase it," he remarked. "With JKC Sports joining us, we can bridge that gap and elevate more of our local talent from the gym to the world's grandest stages."
