Key Insights from the ET NOW Markets Summit 2026
During the ET NOW Markets Summit 2026, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, the Chairman of SEBI, emphasized that market enablement should not compromise integrity and investor safety. He pointed out the various challenges faced by India's capital market, including tariffs, oil price fluctuations, AI disruptions, and foreign portfolio investor (FPI) outflows. Despite these hurdles, he noted that the sentiment among investors has remained strong.
Pandey highlighted that India's markets have successfully raised over ₹1.5 lakh crore through equity and corporate bonds, indicating a robust initial public offering (IPO) pipeline for the future. He reassured attendees that even in the face of external pressures, the Indian market has demonstrated remarkable resilience. He also mentioned that systematic investment plan (SIP) assets constitute nearly 21% of mutual fund assets, stressing that market volatility should not undermine investor confidence.
