Good News for Sahara India Investors

Investors who have deposited their hard-earned money with Sahara India can breathe a sigh of relief. Those waiting for refunds will now have the opportunity to claim larger amounts. According to recent updates from the Ministry of Cooperation, the previous cap of ₹50,000 on refund claims has been lifted. Eligible depositors can now claim their entire outstanding amounts.

Claiming Full Deposit Amounts

Previously, investors were concerned that they could only claim a limited amount compared to their total deposits. With the government's announcement, the removal of the ₹50,000 cap is expected to benefit many depositors who have significantly larger sums stuck in various Sahara cooperative societies.

Verification Process Remains

However, claiming the full amount does not guarantee immediate payment without verification. The processes for application review and eligibility will continue as before.

New Helpline Numbers for Refund Issues

Many investors have faced technical issues and documentation challenges while applying on the Sahara refund portal. To assist with these problems, three new helpline numbers have been introduced.

Investors can reach out to the following numbers for support:

  • 011-44716198

  • 011-44716498

  • 011-44716887

These numbers will provide assistance related to applications, technical difficulties, and complaints.

Refunds Exceed ₹9,585 Crore So Far

According to data shared by the Ministry of Cooperation, as of October 22, 2026, over ₹9,585 crore has been refunded to eligible Sahara depositors. The Supreme Court has mandated a total of ₹10,000 crore for the refund process, which is set to conclude by December 31, 2026. This initiative aims to return the funds of eligible depositors stuck in Sahara cooperative societies according to established regulations.

How to Apply for Refund

Investors who have not yet applied for a refund can do so through the official Sahara refund portal managed by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS).

To apply, visit the official portal, fill in the required information, and upload necessary documents. It is essential to have an active mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card and bank account during the application process. Investors should ensure their Aadhaar is linked to their bank account to avoid issues during identity verification and payment.

Reapplication for Previously Rejected Claims

For those whose previous applications were rejected due to documentation issues or other reasons, there is now a provision for relief. Such investors can resubmit their applications through the 'Resubmission Login' option available on the updated refund portal.

They will need to rectify the deficiencies noted in their earlier applications and re-upload the necessary documents. The new application will then undergo a fresh review.

Conclusion

This new arrangement regarding Sahara refunds is expected to bring relief to investors who have been waiting for their funds for an extended period. However, it is advised that investors obtain information related to applications and payments only from official portals and government sources.
