RCB Triumphs in IPL 2026 Final

The entire state of Karnataka, especially Bengaluru and Mysore, erupted in joy after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their second consecutive IPL title with a five-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans in the thrilling 2026 Final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31.

With this win, RCB became only the third franchise, following the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, to defend their IPL title successfully. Led by Rajat Patidar, the team entered the final under immense pressure but showcased remarkable composure, effectively dismantling the Gujarat Titans' bowling attack during their chase.

Virat Kohli's stellar performance, scoring an unbeaten 75 runs, along with a crucial contribution from Tim David, played a pivotal role in achieving the target, solidifying RCB's status as a formidable contender in the league.

Celebrations Turn Wild in Mysore

As RCB fans across Karnataka celebrated, a memorable moment unfolded in Mysore, showcasing the unrestrained enthusiasm of the supporters. The excitement spilled into the streets, halting traffic as one fan, overwhelmed by the back-to-back championship victory, took to the road to dance.

A video that quickly went viral on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), captured a shirtless RCB fan dancing exuberantly in front of a policeman tasked with managing the crowd. Initially ignoring the disruption, the officer eventually intervened, striking the dancing fan with his baton, prompting the fan to flee into the crowd.

This incident highlighted the fervor of RCB supporters, who flooded the streets to celebrate their team's historic achievement.

RCB Joins Elite Ranks with Consecutive Titles

By defending their title, RCB has joined an elite group of teams that have won consecutive IPL championships. They are now the second team to achieve this feat, following the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Additionally, RCB has become the fourth team overall to secure multiple IPL titles.

Captain Rajat Patidar has now joined the ranks of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma as one of the few captains to lead their teams to consecutive IPL victories, establishing his legacy among the league's greatest leaders. Notably, Patidar also set a record as the fastest captain to win the IPL trophy within his first two full seasons.

RCB's triumph at the Narendra Modi Stadium marks them as the third team to win two IPL finals at the same venue. Furthermore, Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer made history by achieving the fastest team fifty in an IPL final, reaching the milestone in just 3.3 overs, surpassing the previous record of 4 overs set by the Chennai Super Kings in 2023.
