Mandi: The automobile retail landscape in Himachal Pradesh welcomes a new leader as Rajendra Vashista, the Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Devbhoomi Group Companies, has been elected as the Himachal Pradesh State President of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) for the term 2026–28.
With over 15 years of experience in the automobile sector, Vashista is set to advocate for the interests of the state's automobile dealers on a national platform.
His election comes at a pivotal moment when the automobile retail sector is undergoing significant transformations, including the rise of electric vehicles, rapid technological advancements, and shifting consumer preferences.
From Humble Beginnings to a Major Network
Vashista began his journey in the automobile retail industry in 2011, eventually growing Devbhoomi Group into a prominent dealership network in the region.
The group operates authorized Hyundai dealerships in Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, and Shimla, featuring modern showrooms and workshops that provide vehicle sales and after-sales services. Additionally, it has Škoda Auto India dealerships in Mandi and Solan, enhancing its footprint across Himachal Pradesh.
Under Vashista’s guidance, the group has also ventured into Punjab, establishing a Tata Motors dealership in Ropar district.
This expansion has significantly contributed to local employment, with the group’s operations supporting over 1,000 jobs, making it a vital source of employment in the area.
A Diverse Entrepreneurial Path
Vashista's entrepreneurial endeavors extend beyond automobiles. Under his leadership, Devbhoomi Group has diversified into various sectors, including hospitality, cinema, and green energy.
Nevertheless, the automobile sector remains a cornerstone of the group's operations, with its network spanning multiple districts in Himachal Pradesh and into Punjab.
Addressing Industry Challenges
As the newly appointed FADA president for Himachal Pradesh, Vashista faces the challenge of addressing numerous issues impacting automobile dealers in the state.
The shift towards electric and new-energy vehicles, evolving automotive technologies, regulatory compliance, increasing operational costs, and changing customer expectations are all factors reshaping the traditional dealership model.
His role will be crucial in creating a unified platform for automobile dealers in the state while representing their concerns and policy matters to the national leadership of FADA.
For Vashista, this new role marks a significant milestone in his business journey that began in 2011. His appointment offers the Himachal automobile dealer community a fresh opportunity to amplify their voice in shaping the future of automobile retail in India.
