PM Modi Urges Citizens to Conserve Resources Amid Global Economic Crisis

Hyderabad: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a heartfelt appeal to the public, urging them to conserve fuel, utilize public transportation, and reconsider non-essential purchases and international travel to help mitigate the economic fallout from the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

Speaking at a BJP event in Secunderabad, he emphasized the need for collective efforts to navigate the global economic turmoil, supply chain disruptions, and rising prices stemming from international tensions.

PM Modi proposed various strategies for citizens to assist the nation in overcoming these challenges, highlighting that true patriotism involves not just sacrifice but also responsible living and fulfilling civic duties during tough times.

He pointed out the importance of conserving foreign exchange, especially given the soaring global prices of petrol and diesel.

The Prime Minister encouraged the public to minimize fuel consumption by opting for Metro rail and public transport when possible, carpooling when necessary, and using railways for goods transport, while also promoting electric vehicles.

He called for a revival of the efficient practices adopted during the pandemic, such as remote work, online meetings, and virtual conferences, stating that these methods should be prioritized for the national interest.

Additionally, he urged citizens to conserve foreign exchange by avoiding unnecessary international travel and instead embracing domestic tourism and celebrations.

PM Modi also recommended refraining from non-essential gold purchases for a year to alleviate pressure on foreign exchange reserves.

He encouraged support for locally made products, including everyday items like shoes and bags, and advised families to cut down on edible oil consumption for both economic and health benefits.

The Prime Minister urged farmers to reduce chemical fertilizer use by half, adopt natural farming methods, and invest in solar-powered irrigation systems instead of diesel pumps.

He acknowledged the ongoing global supply chain crisis exacerbated by the pandemic and the Ukraine conflict, noting that the Indian government has been actively working to address these issues over the past several years.

PM Modi highlighted the disparity in fertilizer prices, stating that while a bag costs around Rs 3,000 globally, Indian farmers receive it for less than Rs 300.

He remarked on the significant impact of regional conflicts on global markets, particularly affecting India, which relies heavily on imports for oil and gas.

With rising prices for fuel and fertilizers, he assured that the government is striving to alleviate the burden on citizens.
